Rivers of Ice

Kansas City from Kaw Point with the iced-up Missouri River.  The river is flowing along as usual just with chunks of ice.   Below, the Kaw flowing into the Missouri.  Kaw surface is more frozen, water flowing underneath.

Colonnade and Snow

The snow didn't amount to much Wednesday night... but I headed up to the Colonnade during the "storm" anyway.   This was at about 8pm.

A Familiar Sight

This scene has been recorded countless times, but I never grow tired of seeing it.  Taken from the Liberty Memorial.

Low Down On Kaw Point

Went on a photog-safari today with some new friends.  Took them to Kaw Point.  Water is very low
there too due to the on-going draught.
All the bank showing in these pictures was under water last spring. Above, Kaw on the right, Missouri River on the left.
Above, Kaw River flowing into the Missouri River KC Skyline in the background.

Above, the view a year ago from this past summer... bank full.  Below, the view on Sunday of this week.

Two Mansions On Norledge

Martha Matilda Scarritt Jones Home.  1890s  Designed by Root and Siemans.

William Chick Scarritt Home 1888.  Under renovation. A rare brownstone home in Kansas City.  Stones came from a quarry in the northeastern United States.  This is how the home looked right after construction with brand new copper and a slate roof.
