Seeing In Infrared - Kansas City Skyline From Kessler Park

The infrared spectrum gives a stark portrayal of our world. Just out of our visual realm, infrared allows us to view things in an altered way. These were taken with the Nikon D70s using an infrared filter which blocks all visible light. Shooting has to be much more deliberate as you have to shoot in manual, compose and focus..then add the filter and press the shutter. Exposure is trial and error.. These were shot at F8 , 6 seconds, at ISO 200. Converted to black and white in Photoshop, the original images are red

Walking The Point

Once a Summer I like to walk the area called Scarritt Point in Kessler Park... the journey starts with my favorite home-grown castle - the William Wallace Home - c1888.

Above, looking west, below, the southwest corner of the Wallace Home.

Above, the west side of the house, below, looking west from the home.

                                                            Overlooking the East Bottoms.
Above and below, the observation area looking south.

Above, looking south ... the roof of the Colonnade (1908)  is in the center.

                                                    Another view, looking northwest.

Kessler Park Rainy Day

From deep in the files.  2009.  A rainy day in Kessler Park... a field right next to the Kansas City Museum.  At that time the Parks Department was letting part of the field grow wild...which I liked and everyone else didn't.  :)  There was a beautiful red fox too, but he/she was faster afoot than I was with the shutter.
