Northeast Architecture Gone Forever

Preservation, or actually the lack of it, is in the news again with the threatened demolition of Westminster Congregational Church. All of these historic structures have been lost in Northeast in just the last decade. Often aided and abetted by the city government.  Above and below, the Colonnade Apartments, Maple boulevard

The Apartments above and the three homes below were in an Historic District.   Doesn't mean a thing.

The Day Of The Dead - Kansas City Museum

This years Day of the Dead at the Kansas City Museum didn't disappoint.   Well done, and accompanied by a wonderful sunset.   Social distancing required advance registration for the event and all slots are reserved already.

The End Of An Era

 In 1954 Bill and Andy Mortallaro's father bought the Askew Inn from his Uncle.  It's been in continuous operation ever since.... until now.    The brothers retired this week.   They certainly have earned it, but will surely be missed.   A great neighborhood bar in Northeast Kansas City.
