Hyde Park Gem

Built in 1909 this home has been completely renovated.  And is quite charming.  Being in Hyde Park is a great bonus.

3918 Cambell   http://www.reecenichols.com/homes-for-sale/3918-CAMPBELL-Street-Kansas-City-MO-64110-211066192  A perfect example of how an older home can be brought up to date without losing it's original style.

Going, Going......

Sad.  I was shooting a renovated 1800s home out south and then came home just to drive by this.... above, the Colonial Apartments... below, the destruction of the Colonial Apartments courtesy of a shameful deal created by the Neighborhood Association and a bully of an institution of higher learning.  A hundred years and an historic district meant nothing.
 Those below are next.

Restoration Update

Update on the William Chick Scarritt House. Tiles are going on the west half of the roof. These were imported from Brazil. The tiles came by boat to Houston and then by rail to Kansas City. Next; the windows will be installed. Some of the window in the tower are curved. One factory in Arkansas is the only one that can do thermal, curved windows. They are ready to go. After that the curved copper gutter will be installed on the tower top...but first Susan and Larry have to find someone to curve the copper!   In 1888 the construction of this home cost $30,000.
Remarkable progress on this restoration!!!
