A Walk In The Park

Headed out to Loose Park today just to wander.   Gray days are often good for photographs as the light is very gentle and doesn't wash out what colors there are.  A little cool.  First thing I saw (below) was a bride and groom having pictures taken..this is not unusual in Loose Park at all..  as I approached I asked if I could take a couple of shots too.  They had just ( 10 minutes before) gotten married and were now having a picnic.

Above and below, congratulations to newlyweds Clint and Meg....  what a beautiful setting.....

Flowering trees were in full bloom....

Way early for roses, but still plenty of flowers in the Garden.

Not too many people in the Park today, but still many walkers and folks were using the main shelter house. There's a new lighting array being installed in the Park... should be very, very nice.

Mighty Mo In Black And White

Above, the City from Kaw Point.  Below, from River Front Park .
The river is higher this year than it has been the past two years in February. Usually you can walk almost to the middle of the channel on sand/rock bars. Not this year.

Downtown Living Condo Style

Conover Place, 210 West 5th Street.. this is apartment 306.   The listing went live and an hour later the space was sold.   $375,000 was asking.    Dylan Van Gerpen was the listing agent.  DV Realty.  One of my favorite people to work with.   I think if I was younger I would like this lifestyle a lot.

The Dredge Report

This is the Dredge Randolph which helps keep the shipping channel deep enough for barges and other traffic by scouring the bottom and removing objects and sand that have built up over time.  A barge rides along with the dredge and accepts the sand which is taken down river to ( I think ) a concrete plant.   These shots are all from 2006.
Below: I made a river visit once when the Randolph was being serviced by the tug Sibley.  I think it was the front scraper was jammed or the cables were out of alignment.  The tug with a crane on the deck came alongside to help.

Above and below the business end of the system that is lowered to the river bed and brings matter to the surface.

Above and below:  when one barge is full of sand the Sibley brings an empty one and swaps them out.

Above and below; The Sibley pulls out the loaded barge, turns around, and then heads down the river to (wild guess here) Sibley.
