Faux Copper

Workmen are busy today installing new roofing material on the Colonnade here in Northeast. While it looks just like the copper that was there, it's worth nothing to thieves who seek the real stuff. Should be completed this week. Kudos to Parks and Rec for getting the repairs done so quickly.

  1. For those of us who work with copper, it looks nothing like the real patina of the true metal.
While I find the latest renditions of the sheathing visually interesting, the original smooth dome surface was a testament to the skill of the workmen. To build something on site out of little segments is tedious but not particularly skillful. To build in the shop and have it fit when installed means the artisan understands geometry as well as craftsmanship. This is a much higher level of accomplishment.
