20 + 6 = 41

UPDATE: here's a link to the story: http://www.nbcactionnews.com/dpp/news/local_news/residents-pitch-in-for-neighborhood-cleanup-Last Saturday 20 Northeast neighborhood folks teamed with 6 Parks and Rec employees to start on the clearing of the area behind the Colonnade. Wednesday Channel 41, KSHB, came over to the hood to document the work. The segment is to air this evening. I don't know which newscast yet, but, if I find out I'll update this post.
Marissa Cleaver interviewed neighborhood leaders Adam Schieber and Will Royster and Kevin Evans of Parks and Rec for the piece.

Above, Adam took the crew to see the "rediscovered" steps that take one all the way down to Cliff Drive. These will be totally cleared in future cleanings.

Above, Marissa stands near an old lightpole that we also rediscovered during the cleanup. Replacement lighting is just about on the drawing board. In the foreground are the first series of steps leading to Cliff Drive below.
Above, Kevin explains Parks participation in the cleanup.
The rest of the steps... above next to an old stone wall and below winding on down to the Drive.

Spiffy New Floor After 110 Years

The Colonnade at The Concourse over here in Northeast has new stone floors under the two domes.... looks very elegant to me.. Took a couple of shots up there today. Big cleanup planned behind the structure later this fall.

Grime Free Shiny

Quick update..... after only a couple of days the results of the grime removal from the Colonnade can be readily seen.... grime reduction on the right in both pictures.... still grimy on the left. Excellent use of tax dollars.

Colonn-aide

The Colonnade at the Concourse over here in Historic Northeast is getting a facelift. A contractor has begun work on the surface of the 102-year-old structure... above. Below, also slated for change are the floors in the gazeboes at either end... the current floor will be replaced with flagstone. Later on the foliage behind the Colonnade will be trimmed so the view can be opened up and the steps down to Cliff Drive will be built/restored... Good going Parks and Rec.

A Very Northeast Wedding

Last Saturday's wedding saw perfect weather. We started pictures at the Colonnade by the Concourse and then proceeded to Our Lady of Peace on Bennington. Beautiful old church. Reception was at Vesper Hall.

The Colonnade at Sunset

Constructed in 1908 the Colonnade in the Northeast part of Kansas City completed the grand design of George Kessler for North Terrace Park and the Concourse. One can enjoy a lovely view of Cliff Drive below and the east bottoms off in the distance. There is most always a breeze/wind there which makes it comfortable in summer and heck on hair in portraits.
