A Walk In The Woods

Began the trek on the Indian Mound Trail... runs below Gladstone Boulevard from Cliff Drive to one block short of Indian Mound.

Above, Picnic Rock shows the tenacity of nature...paper, scissors, tree, rock.  I named it Picnic Rock because that's where Kelly and I would stop for lunch on our hikes.  It was flatter then.  Below, the Four Sisters.

Finished up the walk by the Kansas City Museum.  The sun was setting.  Makes for long shadows and dramatic pix.

Scarritt Point Rainy Day

The skyline was barely visible through the mist and rain.Took a walk in the rain Wednesday... me, umbrella, camera bag, camera... awkward to say the least. Walked along Scarritt Point just west of the Kansas City Museum/Corinthian Hall. Very foggy, cloudy and wet... but worth the effort because I wasn't alone.

I saw at least six deer and the two turkeys below. I spotted a wild turkey earlier this summer but didn't have a camera with me. Luckily, these two were willing to pose... until they saw me that is.

Below, two does and a fawn. The larger doe was not happy at all to see me. She snorted almost continuously before heading into the woods on the left... the others in tow.

First signs of autumn. The trees are just beginning to change. Should be a beautiful fall.

Kind of a homely bird.... at least they taste good.

Three critters one shot.

A Girls Gotta Work Ya Know

Spotted this doe at Sunrise Drive and Gladstone Boulevard in good old Northeast running along the sidewalk. For once I had the camera ready.
She ambled across the street.
And began her summer job as a lawn ornament.

A Few Along the Drive

Took a few minutes today (Tues) to cruise along Cliff Drive. Encountered a group of deer along the way who didn't seem too concerned about my presence... three of the five posed for a group photo. The rest of the Drive is greening up nicely with the invasive Bush Honeysuckle leading the way. Closeup is of hickory leaves.
