"Just Me" Visits "Hyperblogal" Tourism Ensues

 Part of the fun of blogging is getting to meet fellow bloggers.  It's a little like reading a book that you like and then getting to meet the characters.   Donna has written her "Just Me" blog for years now.  She has frequent posts on it and Facebook.   Her husband Cliff is now retired and enjoys reading blog entries himself.  She spent part of her childhood in Harlem on the north side of the Missouri River and has fond memories of crossing the river on the ASB Bridge... she has always wanted to visit the bridge again and today was the day.  First stop was the pedestrian bridge over the very active railroad tracks... at least four trains passed while we were down by the river.

 Cliff is remarkably curious about how things work... and he pointed out many things that made the visit really interesting...

We ended up at Harry's Country Club in front of a naked bar picture..... great food and super company.... I had to come home after lunch, they headed to City Hall to see the view from the top.

High School Renewal

Built in 1914, Northeast High School is receiving all new windows and is-finally-being air conditioned. 

Museum in Summer Finery

1.  The Kansas City Museum flower beds and grounds look lovely again this year.    

Richardson-Graham Bridge, Northeast Kansas City

Richardson-Graham Memorial Bridge  ( also still called Anderson Bridge ). Built in 1897 it never had a formal name.  Five years ago the Park Board voted to name it for Dr. Katherine Berry Richardson, a surgeon, and Dr. Alice Berry Graham, a dentist.  The same year the bridge was built the Doctors founded Children's Mercy Hospital; their first beds were on the third floor of their home on North Clinton Place at Windsor.   The home still stands and is in fine shape.

Stationed myself on the west side of the Kansas City Museum Sunday afternoon and set the camera to do interval shooting.  One shot every 15 seconds.  Ended up with 697 shots which I merged into one video in Final Cut Pro X.  A little over two hours are covered.  I stopped when the rain started :)   The Kansas City downtown skyline is visible in the distance.
