The Scout, Or, I Can Take A Hint

Prior to last night I had never shot a picture of The Scout in Penn Valley Park.  Mostly because there are plenty of shots of it already.. But in recent weeks I had two requests for photographs of             The Scout. So, I can take a hint. These were taken at various stages of sunset. The shot above was taken last the one below was taken first. All shots taken with the Nikon D850 and 28-300mm lens, ASA 64 then 160.

The Colonnade

I sometimes leave the house with just one lens - just for fun.  It is rarely the Nikon 10.5 DX Fisheye though.   Went to the Concourse here in Northeast Kansas City.  Built in 1907-08 and designed by architect Henry Wright - a partner of George Kessler - it graces a prominent western location on The Concourse.  The fish-eye-so named for it's kind of distortion-is not terribly practical.  But it is very sharp and fun to use in some circumstances.  It's major distortion was corrected in Photoshop..but much remains.
Above is an image of The Colonnade not long after it was constructed ca1908. The view is west from Gladstone Boulevard.

                                                                           And...today.

The Colors Of Reservoir Hill

The Kansas City Museum from Reservoir Hill.

Nature is slowly reclaiming the interior and has a wonderful palette  to show for it.  Above, the northern half of the Reservoir. Below, the southern half of the Reservoir.

The cottonwoods are at their peak, including the Missouri State Champion, below.

Fall On Cliff Drive

View of KC from the top of Goose Neck (the rode from Gladstone Boulevard down to Cliff Drive.)
Like all the trees in the city this year, the ones along Cliff Drive are showing their finery.

Dia de los Muertos - The Day of the Dead -KC Museum

The Day of the Dead Celebration was held by the Kansas City Museum today from 1 to 5pm.  Live music, bridal fashion show, dancing, puppet shows, sugar skulls, everything that's part of the tradition.

The altar was set up by the Museum's west gate...
                                                                     Food trucks aplenty

Anna Marie Tutera, Executive Director of the Museum was there... she was "Skull Lady" today.
