Red In Red Out

In the Spring my Japanese Maple heralds the seasonal change with a bright red hue.... in fall, as it prepares for Winter slumber, it does the same... flora optimism.

I have a hard maple that was particularly pretty this year... almost missed it completely.
All shots with the Nikon D3 and either 14-24mm or the 70-300mm at 1000 or 2000 ASA (because I was too lazy to get the tripod out of the car). Levels adjustment and sharpening in Camera Raw but no color enhancement. All shots with exposure compensation of +1.

Last Vestiges of Summer

Finally got out of the house for something other than work today. Walked Cliff Drive. I'm afraid bare trees are imminent.

Above private residence, below Corinthian Hall which is currently being decorated with Scarecrows for the auction Friday night... 6-9:30pm on the Museum grounds. Sunday is Halloween in Old Northeast.... 5-8pm.

All shots taken with the Nikon D3 and 24-70 zoom. Aperture priority between f5.6 and f11 at ASA 200.

A Byway in Autumn

Finally got out of the house on a sunny day to record some fall colors. The trees, I don't have to tell you, are spectacular this year. Little stress and lots of water makes for a happy leaf.
These are shots along Cliff Drive in Indian Mound, Scarritt Renaissance and Pendleton Heights.

Below, the Colonnade.

Above and below along Lexington Avenue adjacent to Reservoir Hill.

Cliff Drive the western end by Paseo.
Around North Terrace Lake.

Above looking east from the lake toward Chestnut Trafficway.

Grassy meadow at the foot of the bluffs.
