Jefferson Barracks Civil War Museum

Called "Missouri Civil War Museum" this building was built in 1905 as the Jefferson Barracks Post Exchange.  It is now one of the largest Civil War Museums in the country but also covers other conflicts our nation has been involved in.  It is located within the Jefferson Barracks Historic Site in South St. Louis County. This post features a tiny amount of the total exhibit space.

Old Is New Again In Pendleton Heights

Property tax records on this lot in Pendleton Heights go back to 1870.   The home has not been around that long, but it is well into its second century.     A total renovation has just been completed and it's now on the market.  Truly quality work on an old gem.

I love to post images of a really well-done rehab of a valued piece of architecture.

Scarritt House Update

The William Chick Scarritt Home, 3240 Norledge, reconstruction is progressing nicely.  Should have the roof in place by the middle of January.  Which means time from fire to re-roof just four months. The third floor is completed.  Below, sections for the reconstruction are prefabricated just a block away. I'll follow up with the raising (literally) of the roof in a couple of weeks. The home was originally built in 1888.
