View From the Mound

View from the top of Indian Mound not far from my house. One in summer, one in winter.
I'm totally ready for the summer view. Each shot is a panorama made up of three different images stitched together in Photoshop. Views look south. Old Wards Catalogue facility is in the left part of the images... now known as Super Flea.

  1. Panoramas are the best, I made a few of my own to the point when they get real long and only few inches wide.

  2. That's pretty much what these are... both appx. 7 inches tall and 27 inches long. But I really like putting them together.

  3. I love the clouds in the summer picture.

I remember shopping with my mom in that old Montgomery Ward building as a child!

  4. That was a great, bustling place employing hundreds of people from the neighborhood. My grandmother and I used to walk down there to shop and my mother used to work at Luce Luggage which was right next door.

  5. someone just sent me a link to your blog - great stuff. i lived in NE from '68-'83 and know all the areas well. Indian Mound was where the KC buses stopped and reversed route. i love that part of NE. i would jog from where i lived on Brooklyn (129) all the way down Cliff Dr, down to Indian Mound, turn around and go back, about 8mi or so total. when i was on track team at Northeast HS, we would jog up Van Brunt, down Gladstone to Indian Mound and back. there are still some neat areas around Budd Park Esplanade worth shooting. i will start working my way through your blog. thanks, DP Thomas, Weatherford TX
