Reservoir, No Dogs
This is the old City Reservoir in North Terrace Park. Tried to find info on line to include dates and such but was not successful. Believe it was built in the early part of the 1900s but wasn't in use very long. Reservoirs were always built on high ground to ensure good water pressure. This reservoir is divided in two with towers in both halves. It's roughly the size of a football field on the floor. Currently it is mostly just a tapestry for taggers.

Here's an interesting link to www.GeorgeKessler.org. This is his historical website and has lots of historical pix of the parks that he was involved with:

You'll probably need to copy, cut and past this address.
thanks Another I have bookmarked the page. That will be useful in the future!! I wish I could find something online about the Reservoir. Sometime ago I emailed the Water Department to see if there was any information in their archives, but never heard back. Perhaps I'll try again pretending to be the BBC since they don't respond to regular folks.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading about it but can't find the article. Some mentions in the book search.
ReplyDeleteI saw those when I was searching.. didn't know about the incident either. I tried searching the KC Library online but that was fruitless (I detest their new website). I'll find out something I have feelers out amongst some history buffs.
