Fresh New Life

 

Light spring rain didn't dampen the beauty of fresh new Japanese Maple leaves. A sign of renewal. 

 

First Snow

Went all the way to my backyard to capture the first flakes.  Took three trips because, apparently, I've forgotten everything I ever knew about photography.

FINALLY!

The crocus have bloomed.... last couple of years they have popped up in February... this year they weren't taking any chances. Of course after the next three days they may burrow back into the ground. (And I might follow them.)


Above and below... the Japanese Maple is, wisely, in no particular hurry.
And, below, the Cherry Tree will take it's time too... but we're closer everyday.

Renewal

Yard plants are in full bud/bloom.... more coming soon. Leaves are Japanese Maples, some violets and a bush with white flowers that I can't identify. Taken with a macro lens with extension tube.

Recovery

Every year I worry about my Japanese Maple leaves making too early an appearance. The rain Saturday froze on the buds and, I hope, helped protect them. Still frozen early this morning. The forsythia I don't worry about... they're hardier.. and the little redbuds? Well... they just never seem to learn.
