Kauffman Blooms

Visited Kauffman Gardens today to do some senior pictures... but before Katie arrived I roamed around and enjoyed the scenery. The roses are just ready to open and should be gorgeous next week. If you have some spare time... visit... 4801 Rockhill Road.... just east of the Plaza and South from the Nelson Gallery... and it's free. Extremely well maintained.

Tree Rats in Abundance

With three walnut trees surrounding my back yard I have an abundance of arboreal varmints clambering everywhere. When they aren't messing around in your attic or eating the well-tended harvest of tomatoes squirrels are kinda cute. With apologies for any unintended offense to commenter RJSciurus who takes his squireliness very seriously. All but one of these shots are of the same animal who would actually stop and pose when I aimed the camera at him/her.

Meet The Staff

Hyperblogal is not a one-person operation. Others involved in the making of this suspect blogging are, in the rear of top picture, Mr. Daisy (I thought the kitten was a girl), and in the foreground Daisy's mother, Penny. Neither are allowed on the computer table which is where they are pictured. Penny is mostly involved with info gathering whether on fence or laying in her place of hope.... hope that there is at least ONE stupid bird. Mr. Daisy prefers quiet reflection to work and selects either a really bad place to lay... or a warm spot in an open window. Both receive room and board for their efforts.

Love Ponaks.... as does daughter.. everytime she's home on a visit it's a must stop... this was taken on her last visit mid-April.

Scarritt Spring

Continuously occupied since 1897 by the Scarritt/Royster family, this is one of our many mansions over here in Northeast that are lovingly cared for by their owners. This house was built by Edward Scarritt for his family. He is the same man who built the Scarritt Building and Arcade in downtown KC>

Last Saturday Budd Park located at St. John and Hardesty in Historic Northeast received the gift of 40 new trees. Shovels were at the ready when the planting began at 9:15... all were done by ll:30... excellent work. Neighborhood folks worked along side people from all over the greater Kansas City area. Good job people :) Note: Hyperblogal is part of the group that is pictured last... a rare appearance in front of the camera.

Principle organizers of the planting were, from left to right, Scott Wagner, Indian Mound Neighborhood Association, Will Royster, Vice-President, Scarritt Rennaissance Neighborhood Association, Angela Schreffler, Program Manager Heartland Tree Alliance, Haywood Morgan and Levin Lapointe, Kansas City Parks and Recreation.

Some young volunteers also worked cleanup in the Park... and when they were done there wasn't a piece of trash anywhere to be seen in the area. This picture shows Alonzo Esteban on the left with Carlos Contreras.

Mother Goose

I guess she's Quinqua Mom in keeping with popular culture... only Mrs. Goose did it the old fashioned way. This flotilla inhabits North Terrace Lake (Green Lake for those of us who grew up over here in Northeast). I think they must have hatched about 10 days ago... just saw them today. Cute little fuzzy goslings who stick right with Mom and Dad.... and vice- versa. Generally swim from one end of the lake to the other, get out and eat, get back in. Sleep on the island at night.
